As we continue our 20th Anniversary celebration, please join us as this month we look back at the 1992 & 1994 events.

1992 - In the 4th Merrill Lynch Shootout, the team of Davis Love III & Tom Kite captured a one shot victory over three teams. The '92 field featured three of the four reigning major champions including Kite, Fred Couples & Nick Price. The twenty player field that competed for a $1.1 million purse also showcased the team of Payne Stewart & John Daly, both Shootout rookies. CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation was also named the primary charity beneficiary of the event in 1992.

1994 - The team of Fred Couples and Brad Faxon captured a two-stroke victory over Mark O'Meara & Curtis Strange. With the win, Couples joined Raymond Floyd as the only two-time Shootout champions to date. The inaugural Presidents Cup was played earlier that fall and the Shootout field included six Presidents Cup participants. The 1994 field also included the teams of reigning British Open and PGA Champion Nick Price & Norman, Arnold Palmer & Peter Jacobsen and Ben Crenshaw & Mark Calcavecchia.

As the season's 2nd major championship approaches, the Merrill Lynch Shootout is proud to offer its 4th annual United States Open Fantasy Challenge. Have a stake in the game as the world's best attempt to tackle the picturesque and historic South Course at Torrey Pines.

Will Angel Cabrera be able to defend after his improbable victory at Oakmont? Can Trevor Immelman make it back-to-back majors? Or will Tiger battle back from injury to claim major championship victory number 14? These questions and more will be answered as Torrey Pines becomes only the second public course to host the U.S. Open Championship. Be sure to get involved in the excitement by selecting your very own fantasy team today!
