SHOOTOUT FIELD UPDATE:

Two-time defending champions Jeff Sluman and Hank Kuehne will return to Tiburón Golf Club November 9-13 and they will be met by a collection of the PGA TOUR's brightest stars as 22 players have already committed to the Franklin Templeton Shootout.

Included in the field is a group of nine major champions who have combined for 14 major titles including Greg Norman (1986 and 1993 British Open), who is joined by Nick Price (1992 PGA Championship, 1984 British Open, 1984 PGA Championship), John Daly (1991 PGA Championship, 1995 British Open), Mark O'Meara (1998 Masters and 1998 British Open), Fred Couples (1992 Masters), Steve Elkington (1995 PGA Championship), Paul Azinger (1993 PGA Championship), Mark Calcavecchia (1989 British Open) and Sluman (1988 PGA Championship).

Also among the early commitments to the 17th edition of the Shootout are Kenny Perry, twice a winner on the PGA TOUR this season, reigning PLAYERS Champion Fred Funk and Adam Scott, presently No. 7 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Others who have indicated they will join in the effort to raise funds and awareness for CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation include Olin Browne, Stewart Cink, Jay Haas, Tim Herron, Scott Hoch, Peter Jacobsen, Scott McCarron, Ian Poulter, and Loren Roberts.

"We are delighted to once again have an outstanding collection of players supporting this event," Norman said. "I believe we have a great blend of talented professionals. The fans in South Florida are in for a real treat again this year."

Champions this year, include Browne, who captured the Deutsche Bank Championship Labor Day weekend for his third TOUR victory. This past weekend at the Bell Canadian Open, Calcavecchia made it back-to-back victories on Tour for Shootout competitors. Roberts has enjoyed a successful summer debut on the Champions Tour. He became eligible on June 24 and a month later won the Jeld-Wen Tradition for his first major championship victory on that Tour.

Herron will be making his first appearance in the Shootout along with Poulter while past Shootout champions Haas and O'Meara return. ÝBonita Springs resident Jacobsen is second only to Norman with 15 previous Shootout appearances.

Sluman and Kuehne will attempt to become the first team in Shootout history to win three consecutive titles. A year ago, they became just the second team to successfully defend their title. Brad Faxon and McCarron managed that feat in 2000 and 2001.

Six of those who have committed will participate in The Presidents Cup in three weeks. Representing the United States team are Cink, Couples, Funk, Perry and Sluman, who will serve as Jack Nicklaus' assistant captain. Scott will be a member of the International Team.

In the next week the Shootout will finalize the two remaining spots in the tournament field. In addition be on the look out as team pairings are announced.

JELD-WEN TRADITION FANTASY CHALLENGE

Congratulations to our Fantasy Challenge winner and Franklin Templeton Shootout Volunteer, Jim Markusen, whose team collectively won $ 646,250 in prize money. The winning fantasy team included the Jeld-Wen Tradition Champion and 2005 Franklin Templeton Shootout participant Loren Roberts, along with fellow Shootout participant Jay Haas, Dana Quigley who lost to Roberts in a playoff, and Craig Stadler.

Although Roberts' play on the Champions Tour this season has been superb, his performance at the Tour's final major claimed him his first Champions Tour victory. Look for the "Boss of the Moss" to continue his strong play at this year's Franklin Templeton Shootout, November 9th - 13th.

The number of entrants for this contest was only exceeded by the exciting weekend at The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club in Aloha, Oregon. Thanks to all those who participated in this fun Fantasy Challenge and we hope that you will keep an eye out for future contests, news and Franklin Templeton Shootout updates over the coming months!
