Q & A
I know I'm in for a long Wednesday when I look in my pro-am partner's bag and see...
Head covers on the irons.
If my wife/girlfriend could choose the vanity plate on my car, it would read...
Caution, Child at Play.
At Thanksgiving dinner, you'd be most thankful for what shot pulled off in 2005?
Cut 7-iron off a hook lie on the 71st hole of the Deutsche Bank Championship. I made birdie and won by a shot.
Forget about the Vardon Trophy or Player of the Year, the PGA Tour awards ceremony would be a whole lot more entertaining if they awarded...
Damned if I know.
A lot of guys complain about metal spikes, but what I would outlaw would be...
Any shot that isn't hit within 20 seconds.
My high school PE teacher would describe my athletic ability as...
So incredible that he had me training for the decathlon until he figured out that I couldn't jump or run.
I'd lay 10:1 odds on my caddie against anyone in the field if the game/contest were...
Putting his kids into a pro sports league. He has one son in the NFL and another in the NBA.
If golf were like other team sports and there was a pre-game speech or a halftime speech, what coach (living or dead) would you choose to deliver that pep talk? Why?
Remember John Belushi's speech in Animal House? He said, "Did we give up after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? When the tough get going, etc., etc." Imagine what he would have said about this crazy game.
What is the funniest/quirkiest encounter you have had with a fan?
I was hitting a bunker shot out of a fried egg lie. The wind was howling and I took a huge swipe at the ball. The fall-out covered a guy standing next to the green with sand. He looked like a cartoon character covered in snow, but he took it well.
Which professional golfer would win on Celebrity Jeopardy? Who would end up with a negative dollar amount?
I have no clue. Maybe the guy who wrote these questions.
Who is one athlete outside the game of golf you admire?
Edwin Moses. How can you run that hard for so long and not lose a race? How about the way Roger Federer plays tennis? I don't know much about the Tour de France, but you have to respect a guy like Lance Armstrong. A guy that can sit on a bicycle seat for seven years and win every time is a feat.
What type of vehicle were you driving when you won your first professional event? How long after that victory before you upgraded?
A Ford Taurus and it took 20 years to upgrade because I only won $20,000.
During a tournament, what is your pre-round routine? What is the first club out of the bag during a practice session? Last?
Get a pre-round stretch in the fitness center and get a good meal. The first club out of the bag is one of my wedges and the last is whatever club I'm going to hit off the first tee.
What do you think about a three-way international competition pitting the best from the United States, Europe and the rest of the world?
Any international golf competition would be great.
